American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (“Honda”) provides the i-HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) software suite, offering robust diagnostic and repair solutions for electronic systems on Honda and Acura vehicles. It also facilitates the reprogramming of electronic control units (ECUs), such as ECMs and PCMs.
Key Features:
- Access all Honda and Acura vehicle systems.
- For immobilizer security system access, a Security Professional level subscription and Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) registration with NASTF are required.
- Requires a pass-thru Vehicle Communication Device (VCI) compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2 for communication with vehicles.
Vehicle Communication Interfaces (VCI):
The i-HDS software supports generic pass-thru VCIs compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2 standards. However, American Honda (AH) and Honda Canada (HC) recommend the Honda Antares Capsule (HAC) for Honda and Acura vehicles due to its tested compatibility with i-HDS software, ensuring safety and adherence to J2534 specifications for diagnostics and reprogramming.
Honda does not provide technical or customer support for generic VCIs, so it’s essential to consider the support options offered by your VCI supplier when choosing a device.
Approved and validated devices for i-HDS are listed in the VCI Application Table, ensuring compatibility for seamless operation with the software suite.
