Toyota & Lexus Module Programming with JRC OBD Tools
Note:
To proceed with online vehicle programming, it is recommended to have the Genuine Complete Pass-Thru Kit for All Cars. Please click the link to purchase if you haven’t already.
JRC OBD Tools supports Toyota/Lexus module programming for both *new (virgin) and used (second-hand) replacements, including *ECU, IMMO (Immobilizer), Smart Key (G-Box), ABS, Airbag, and more.
1. Programming a New (Virgin) Module
- Tools Required:
- Techstream (Official Toyota Software) + J2534 Pass-Thru (Mongoose Toyota, Tactrix, or compatible)
- JRC OBD Tools (with Toyota/Lexus support)
- OBD-II Cable (Mini VCI for older Toyotas, or J2534 for newer models)
- Process:
- Connect via Techstream or JRC software to program the new module.
- New ECUs require VIN writing, immobilizer registration, and initialization.
2. Programming a Used Module
- Tools Required:
- Techstream + J2534 (for diagnostics & programming)
- EEPROM Tools (e.g., XProg, PAD3, or AutoHex II for used ECU virginization)
- Key Programming Tools (e.g., Tango, MVP Pro, or Toyota/Lexus-specific tools)
- Process:
- Used ECUs must be virginized (reset ISN/Immobilizer data) before installation.
- Smart Key (G-Box) modules require matching to the vehicle’s immobilizer system.
- ABS/Airbag modules may need zero-point calibration after replacement.
Key Notes:
- *Smart Key Systems (Push-to-Start): Require *G-Box matching and immobilizer sync.
- Older Toyotas (Pre-2010): Can often be programmed via **Techstream (offline mode).
- *Newer Models (2015+): May require *online Toyota TIS connection for security access.
